Algerian Traditional Semolina Sweet Pudding Recipe

Step 1:

Gather semolina, sugar and water in a cooking pot.

Step 2:

Cook at low heat until it becomes thicker and comes to the boiling point. Keep stirring continuously to avoid formation of lumps.

Now put orange blossom water and red food coloring.

Step 4:

Stir well and cook unless the color is permeated across the mixture well. Now remove from the heat.

This is the famous semolina pudding from Algerian cuisine. It can be made with few ingredients with very easy steps. Due to it's pinkish red appearance, it is famous among the kids. It is also considered as a street food in Algeria. Try this in Iftar as sweet, your kids, husband and everyone around would surely like it.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup semolina
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 cup water
  • 1 tsp orange blossom water
  • few drops red food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine semolina, water and sugar in a normal size pan.
  2. Cook the mixture at low flame till the mixture gets thicker and boiled. Meanwhile, keep stirring continuously to get good results.

  3. Now put orange blossom water and red food coloring.
  4. Stir well and cook unless the color is permeated across the mixture well. Now remove from the heat.
  5. Move pudding into a tray as shown in the picture. Let it cool at room temperature. Then refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours. Cut into square size pieces and now delicious Algerian traditional semolina pudding is ready to serve.
